About the session: Learn how edmodo, wikis and web tools are used to engage students from years 5 to 9. Meet Penny Bentley, our presenter, who has been experimenting with the use of web 2.0 tools in maths and numeracy to engage students and improve learning outcomes. Penny will explain how she uses games for skills practice, audioboo and an ipad app ShowMe for kids to talk about/reflect on what they are doing. Penny has created a wiki for each of her private tutorial students where they embed their work. Her use of Edmodo will also be shared.

About this session Lets get real with number! Using numbers with meaning to enhance numeracy via the iPod or ipad. There’s an app for almost all numeracy learning. Plus there are real life apps that supply so much number information daily with meaning that we can take advantage of in our numeracy lessons. Allowing students to express their Mathematical knowledge in their hands couldn’t be easier on the idevices. Come and get some great examples that you can use in your numeracy classes. (Primary focus but many work flows can be adapted for higher levels)
About the Presenter: Jenny Ashby has recently been awarded the ICTEV Teacher of the Year, 2011 Jenny is well known for her passion in using mobile technology including iPads and iPod touches in the classroom.IShe is an CT specialist, teacher coach, forever learning, forever teaching and an early years literacy teacher.
