About this session:  Twitter is the social phenomenon  that is sweeping across global communities.

For educators, it can play a vital role in networking, professional development, learning through conversations and much, much more. This session will introduce twitter to those who may be new to it. The following topics will be covered:-

  • The importance of the profile
  • 140 characters or less
  • Direct messages, retweets
  • The new features of twitter
  • How to find people to follow
  • Using twitter as a search engine
  • Hashtags
  • Threaded conversations
  • Lists
  • Social browsers for twitter eg tweetdeck, hootsuite
  • Twitter chats
  • Where to learn more?

If you are wanting to know more about twitter or wanting to get started on twitter this is a session for you. It is hoped that those who are experienced with twitter will also attend, add to the conversations and share in the learning.

What are you up 2.0? Tech Talk Tuesday in Review!

This was an informal session where participants determined the direction of the session. Participants came from a variety of educational sectors, from Australia and from Russia. Participants were asked the following:-

  1. What they would like discussed in this session.
  2. Tools or technology that they could share.
High interest was expressed in the recent release of google+ and twitter. Application sharing was used to demonstrate some of the tools shared.
